Crime Scene/Forensic Science Technology

PHSC’s Crime Scene/Forensic Science Technology program provides students with the knowledge and skillset to prepare them for the workforce. PHSC students apply learned techniques through a hands-on approach and scenarios. Forensic investigators are responsible for collecting, documenting, and preserving evidence at crime scenes which could lead to an alleged perpetrator’s arrest and conviction. As a crime scene technician/forensic investigator an individual is required to have a high level of integrity, ethical standards, and proficient communication skills.

Upon graduation from the program, students would be eligible for a position as a crime scene technician, forensic investigator, crime scene multi-media technician, fingerprint technician, an evidence technician, or latent fingerprint trainee.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor, employment of forensic investigators is expected to grow 16 percent from 2020 to 2030.

Job Potential Earnings

According to Law Enforcement Agencies surrounding Pasco-Hernando State College, forensic investigators start at approximately $16.00 to $20.00 per hour. With experience pay can increase to approximately $29.00 to $42.00 per hour.
